Employee wellness programs or wellness plans are a form of health benefit that many employers provide – in one form or another – in addition to health insurance. The definition of a wellness program is a program that helps employees stay healthy or – in some cases – helps them improve their health 

Wellness programs include activities such as company-sponsored exercise, weight-loss competitions, educational seminars, tobacco-cessation programs and health screenings that are designed to help employees eat better, lose weight and improve their overall physical fitness . 
 
HR Professionals can implement a wellness program at work through:- 

  • Conducting an organizational assessment. 
  • Obtaining management support. 
  • Establishing a wellness committee. 
  • Obtaining employee inputs. 
  • Obtaining external support. 
  • Developing goals and objectives. 
  • Designing and implementing programs.
